Our beautiful beaches are a disgrace!
When we go to the beaches to collect the driftwood, we usually
donate 10 mins for every hour spent collecting driftwood - to picking up human litter which has sadly been left on the beaches
instead of being taken away from them & disposed of properly!
The majority of the most hazardous materials just left on
the beaches by inconsiderate & thoughtless visitors this Summer included mainly wine bottles(usually broken) & (so
called)disposable barbeque grills.
The 3rd main litter material was the TESCO carrier bag of
course!!
When a creature of the sea or air mistakingly consumes a plastic
bag - because it thought it was food - the creature endures a slow & agonising death. The bag either fills with water
or air that cannot escape. This then fills the gap of the animals gut, stopping it from eating & digesting any foods
that it does manage to eat.
The poor creature then starves to death!
So, the next time you visit your coastline please, please think
of what I have said here & TAKE YOUR RUBBISH HOME or DISPOSE of it PROPERLY!!!
Or go one better & make yourself feel good by visiting
your local beach & pick up & dispose of the litter that has already been left there by others!
